Project Summary
In 1986, Steelcase invited Arbee Associates to expand its New Jersey based operations to service the Washington, DC / Baltimore market. Fifteen years later, Arbee's facility is no longer able to keep pace with the needs of the company. In order to provide an advanced, flexible work environment for Arbee's employees, the company broke ground on a revolutionary new building in August of 2001.
Arbee faces the unique challenge of simultaneously being a regional corporate headquarters and a working showroom. After conducting its own internal strategic analysis, Arbee decided to construct a new, state-of-the-art-facility that will accomplish the following:
| |
Create an inspiring space for employees that is flexible, interactive, and encourages collaboration. |
| |
Easily accommodate changes in technology, and support changes in work process, staffing levels, and workplace design. |
| |
Help Arbee better serve their clients by creating a range of settings that showcase leading edge workplace solutions. |
| |
Demonstrate how the integration of architecture, furniture and technology creates the most effective of workplaces. |
Project Scope
| |
Develop a strategic plan to align business goals with facilities goals. |
| |
Conduct Workplace Mapping, an automated programming tool that gathers in-depth insights about how employees work (individually and as part of teams), providing designers with critical information about how to best support their work functions. |
| |
Partner with Workstage to construct a high-performance, flexible building that facilitates the integration of architecture, furniture and technology. |
| |
Collaborate with Gensler to design a workplace that will effectively support a range of settings, foster productivity, project the company's image, and support the organization's culture. |
